Which Hand Winches Are Best for Your Application?
Hand winches are extremely handy pieces of equipment to have in a myriad of situations. A heavy-duty hand winch can solve many problems such as taking the strain and reducing injury when lifting heavy loads. That’s why here at Super Power Winch, we offer our customers an excellent range of hand winches suitable for helping with lifting and pulling.
One of the best sources of hand winches is Fulton’s range, which is known worldwide for being a tough and reliable range of winches that offers a long service life. This range includes models suitable for lifting and pulling along with trailer applications, ranging from single speed to double speed. But what is included in this range? Here are the three main types of hand winch you can find here on our site:
True to their name, hand-operated lifting winches are used primarily for lifting suspended loads, with Fulton’s K-series braked lifting winches being the pick of the bunch. These self-activating automatic brake winches can hold a load securely when the crank handle is released, helping the user to avoid injury.
Examples of how these lifting winches might be used include lifting boats, in conjunction with manual fork lifts and with manual hoists. These series come with plated gear covers for improved gear train protection and a dual ratchet.
When it comes to pulling boats, cars and other items, braked winches are the right type of hand winch for you as these hand winches make light work of heavy loads.
Fulton’s 2600lb and 3200lb hand winches come with two speeds: one fast speed for quick pulling in, and a lower speed to allow the load to be more easily controlled. The winches benefit from a great free-wheel position and shift lock design which allow for quick line pay out and gear changes without touching the crank handle. The 3200lb winch is suitable for a wire and synthetic rope.
We also offer another 900kg braked hand winch suitable for general and recovery operations. This recovery hand winch features a fully closed gearbox and automatic brake system which stops the winch when over 25kg of force is applied, enabling you to pull in your load safely.
In comparison to braked winches, un-braked winches boast even higher pulling power. Fulton offer a range of powerful un-braked hand winches ranging from a small 600lb single speed winch to a 2000lb behemoth. The 2000lb winch is the only one offering two speeds, allowing you to be more careful with your pulling.
These hand winches are made of high-carbon steel, giving them an enviable strength and long-term durability, while their zinc finish gives them excellent resistance to corrosion and rust – making them ideal for outdoor applications.
